From
May the 6th to the 8th, 2011 the Project Management Institute (PMI®)
held its PMI Leadership Institute Meeting at the Convention Center
Dublin (CCD) in Dublin, Ireland. During this meeting
172 PMI Chapter
leaders from all over the world gathered together before the beginning
of the Global EMEA Congress 2011. Having attended ten+ Leadership
Institute meetings, I would like to report on this one also.
This
PMI Leadership Institute Meeting gave the opportunity for old PMI
leaders to meet each other and meet also newcomers from PMI Chapters and
Virtual Communities all over the world and to exchange experiences and
lessons learned.
Three PM Forum International correspondents attended the PMI Leadership meeting in Dublin, including:
- Theofanis Giotis, CEO of 12PM Consulting and President of PMI-GREECE
- Olivier Lazar, Global Manager, Project Management Excellence at Altran, Vice President at PMI Switzerland Chapter
- Alfonso Bucero, CEO of Bucero Consulting, PMI Component Mentor for EMEA
Region, and immediate past president of the PMI Madrid, Spain chapter
The
Leadership Institute Meeting Opening Session was co-ordinated by PMI
President & CEO,
Mark Langley and PMI Chair,
Beth Partelton, PMP.
After that, the keynote speech was delivered by David Taylor (pictured
at right) on Friday from 14.00-15.00.
David Taylor is a recognized global authority on leadership and is author of the book "The Naked Leader".
The
Saturday Morning Keynote Speaker was
Gil Regev who is a Senior
Researcher at the School of Computer and Communication Sciences of the
Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and Knowledge Manager at
Itecor, Switzerland. On Saturday afternoon during the
Leader to Leader
session, all participants were able to dialogue with PMI's Board of
Directors.
On
Sunday afternoon, the Leadership Institute Meeting ended with Closing
Speaker,
Brody Sweeney (pictured left), Entrepreneur and Author. Brody
Sweeney founded the O'Brien's Sandwich Bar chain in 1988, and together
with his management team built the chain to over 300 outlets in 16
countries. In 2005, he retired from the day-to-day management of the
business to pursue a career in politics and in the 2007 General
Election, stood for the Irish parliament. He is founder of the Camile
Thai Kitchen Group, a small chain of Thai focused hot food delivery
businesses.
On Friday and Saturday afternoon PMI has held two
Networking Receptions where all PMI leaders has a great networking
